Lindy, I don't have any idea where you went but any place that has water and cooler temps would be fine with me. And I'm glad to hear that the kids didn't burn the house down while you were gone.
We went to Dutchess county...Red hook, Hyde Park, Rhinebeck,and Tivoli in the state of New York. We took some "stuff" to our daughter. The bridge is called Rip Van Winkle. We were only there for three days but lots of things to see. We love the area!
