I have started another quilt. This one will be needle-turn, love it, kinda like my Baltimore album patterns. The only fabric that will stay the same is the stem and red flower, everything else will change. I'm making 20 of these babies. The material is french general (love it so much)! Actually the flower is on the diagonal. This will be a twin size for the daughter's bed. The pattern is Romance in bloom...............

We had to stop in New York City for child #3...his voice acting........he is my son with Asperger's.........my dawling parked us in Hoboken, NJ and we took the path train in. It was also 100 degrees...just a side note. When we left NJ, our GPS decided we had to drive through the city anyway. It was suppose to be shorter.........Ha Ha and double Ha! "We" and I use that term loosely.....(the dawling was driving).......I was "helping" him....back to the story...we moved at a snail's pace....instead of arriving at 5pm we got in at 8pm. The pictures are above and start backwards because I suck at this blog thing and can't figure it out......secretly I don't care. More pictures later........Oh, before NY we did a stop over in Philly to see our sweet child #2......we ate here click word.....
My one and only daughter works at their market. She is an artist, went to Bard College, graduated in 2010. I miss visiting that area! I am rambling.......love you sweet child!!!!

Had a WONDERFUL vacation.....went to cooking classes at King Arthur's (click on word) stopped by Dorr, (click on word) stopped by Green Mountain Rughooking school (can I say BIG disappointment with that one) and saw some beautiful sights.............BUT on the way home yours truly is puking guts out and shaking and having well...get the picture? No weight gain! A plus for the pukes and other adventures....................

Seems a lot of quilters have been interested in my Dresden Heart quilt pattern. I wish I could post the pattern but it really is complicated. If I ever get some free time I will post the stages to put together....but don't hold your breath for very long! I am very, very busy!
Getting up with the sun to pick strawberries...and making some of this (click here)...then plant my 35 different tomatoes, then work out, then turn into a bus for the kids, then go to Lowe's to get a cheap sander, go to my beloved Benjamin Moore to get touch up paint, then cook the dinner, then work in the yard some more, then go to bed, sleep some hours, then do it all over again only this time work on the pit...you know this thing...................Plus, I got to keep that job thing going on to feed the pit and the chickadees...................

No Loss, no gain this week...of course eating two yes two pounds of tomatoes the night before weigh in...stupid! (They were dried in the oven so not really that much...OK, a big bowl full).

Working more and more...get up, work out, pretend to clean, then go to work...........In fact it is nearly midnight , I will be up again at 05:15....and the family won't see me until 9 or 10 pm Sunday. Gas is soooooo expensive....the dawling and I both work about an hour or so away. Which is why I stay over on the weekends, plus the fact I seem to be working more than 12 hours a day...........Money makes the world go round........we are having our tin roof painted and the roof restoration guy came over to decide on the bill........I'm figuring 3 to 4 thousand...oh yeah baby..... life in the money pit................

To Miss Molly by golly..........she turned 15 years old today! April fools day. For a golden retriever that is pretty darn old! She does whatever she wants.....as my son said, "she has retired from being a dog"........sometimes she gets confused, her hearing is off , her sight is cloudy, she fights arthritis in her front paws, but the nose is still as young as ever........ Ever wake up and just feel like a lazy sloth? Today I am one, no workout, no weigh in, no nothing. I decided I had better clean the dust infected house. Of course I slept until 10:30 AM.......yes, you read right! I never do that.....unless I'm sick and I'm not sick. Sometimes I think the problems of life just get to you, so the body says sleep! I work about an hour away and get home around 10:30 PM which never helps, as who can just go to bed and crash? So, today I am a sloth. No sewing, just dusting, vacuuming, and all the other chores I have put off. Child #2 those curtains will get finished before you move! Promise! I also have to make a very quick baby quilt for a co-worker.......then hopefully I can get back to rug hooking. This is the longest I have ever taken a break from it. Of course I need to sand and repaint my front porch steps and a small part of the porch as the dawling took a power hose to it.....what was he thinking? I was able to stop him a fourth of the way through, lots of words were said over that one. I chalked it up to his man genes...the dawling..........
My, killing time on this post.....got to get ready for work.........one day I can maybe really slow down for good....not just today only...ah, pity party is over.............but boy that felt good!

OK, got my fat butt up very early to meet with my trainer.....we are focusing on my core muscles...specifically....the gut....since I can't get it cut off...I must get the muscles to take back control.......many children.....eating like cow......well.......you get the picture? After two and one half hours of ah, "sweet delight" I went to get the annual cattle scale weight....yep only lost half a damn pound........ I go to the gym and work like "pound dog" Monday thru Friday and half a pound is what I get?! Getting old...seeing the big 60 looming fast really sucks....the weight doesn't come off as fast as one would like.........Take heed young people the older you get the harder to get the poundage off! My tidbit for the year..............

Still working on the never ending curtains.............bits and pieces of time here and there.......maybe by the summer?

I am feeling OK about the cattle scale...no loss..... no gain...maintained......which is good...... cause peoples....I've been a cooking fool this week!!!! I am not working during the week days this week, I am only working the weekend...........so am cooking and working out....Monday night I burned nearly 1,500 calories...I went in the AM and PM....but due to the over exercised insanity, I was able to do very little on Tuesday.............. But I am back to my insanity in the workout department now! I am making a 10 inch blackbottom pie for Friday.......why then.......I will be working and thus will not have to indulge self in the heavenly bliss.......all for child #4 he is home for spring break................. going to watch Morning Glory on "puter"

I lost only (.2 pounds) of lard last Thursday.......we will see what happens this week.... I have my child #4 home for spring break...so I am cooking quite a bit...........

My dawling went in to NYC ....I gave him a list of places to seek and spend money...........I really wanted to go but couldn't get off................

He was able to also go to Phillys wonderful garden show....next year I am going!!!!!

Trying like heck to get curtains made for child number 2........the dawling is leaving this Friday to pick up child number 4 for spring break.......he is doing a side trip to drop off "stuff" for the #2......BUT........it looks like I am not going to make it.....in the curtain department...you may ask why...I am making them to match that quilt I made for her.............which took me almost 6 months or so to complete............I never have enough time.......always slips away.........working.........working and working..........

I called in sick for tonight, first time in 2 years since my last call in.........in other words if I call in, I am sick, sick , sick!!!!!!!!! I detest head colds, I hate the way the mucous takes over your head! It flows from every orifice, which is more information than we all need...........I roam from room to room, looking at this and that, with my beloved bottle of "Nykill", slugging back that stuff..... feeling higher than a mucous plug....did I say I love that stuff? It is wonderful, delightful, and well, I love it......did I say that before? I am going to wander around this big ole house of mine ...........If no one hears from me I left to get some more "nykill"............... (Plus, I love that book!)

No, this is not about weight loss or cooking....yes, it is about a rug I plan to start hooking. I love Emma Lou's patterns and bought her long runner, Antique floral on Monks cloth, nearly 12 years ago. I have decided it is time to just hook it! (It is 32 by 92, I may make it a tad wider). I never really have a color plan per say, just something in my brain so we will see what happens. I have to finish making curtains for the daughter and then I start.........I'll post updates every now and then, KNOW everyone is waiting with bated breath........

Now to cook something delightful, but not too heavy in the carbs!

It was a wonderful success......the dawling loved his surprise.....I have decided to forgo the weigh in this Wednesday......I think I gained.....due to this calorie laden meal..........

The biscuits came from Dories's cookbook (made with heavy whipping cream), used a recipe with lots of changes from a blogger.....(crab bisque, I had frozen my fresh homemade tomato sauce from the summer and used that as a base, added no fat, half and half instead of the cream...it was darn good...oh and added some "heat")The meat, ribeye, I used the recipe from The minimalist....who wrote for the New York Times and just recently stopped...boo.......threw in a salad for the green stuff.....and for dessert, a cookie recipe from Sarabeth, but also tweaked it by adding some chocolate...the strawberries were dipped in dark chocolate from Callebaut's.

Today it's my birthday...I feel like a sloth....haven't decided what or where to go......decisions..........

Lost half a pound of lard this week........really busting my butt with the work outs at the gym........up to 1 to 2 hours of cardio then 3 times a week add the weights........maybe it's the age factor????? I turn 57 on the 15th and I really wanted 10 more pounds off by then...oh well..............at least an 80 year old man came up to me (as the sweat is dripping off my red face) and tells me that he's been watching me work out and I was doing real good..............WTF............so I said thank you and continued with my sweating..........I'll leave it at that.............

I have both (actually all of Dorie's cookbooks) and just got Sarabeth's ........wonderful...wonderful!!!! I am making crab bisque from the food blogger site.......she had as shrimp.....I will kick up the spice level a tad and add crab........... Hope to add pictures next week of the event. The dawling better enjoy.........the next day on to my holiday!
The roses were brought to me at work Saturday by the dawling.......he loves me..........or the guilt from wrongdoing is killing him.........................Off to burn 500 calories of lard......................................................

Went to my weigh in...... got on the cattle scales, and the damn thing did not move.......no gain.......no loss.....sigh................................. BUT, I have dropped another size...so am losing inches. Went to my PCP the other day and her scales had me down 2 pounds.......another sigh...........she told me I am concentrating too much on the scales........yeah...yeah.......I just want to lose 3 more pounds by the end of February........that's all just 3!! So, onward I trudge....The big Birthday for 57 years is looming close.......funny.......you look in the mirror and you think.......what the hell happened to you? Looks like ya got OLD.......although you still feel like 20 something. At work the other day a nurse thought I was in my late 40's.........I gave her a quarter.
See that Golden on the floor in our kitchen...yeah, that one......she turns 15 years old in April...........we let her do whatever she wants...one of my son's said that she has retired from being a dog......(still continent, which is a very good thing, just gets confused.......but so do I).

The picture was taken around 2pm, on our deck........it is now 10:30 pm and yours truly just dug out 3 cars in the driveway. Child #3 could not help with his "bad" arm..........close eyes if picture too graphic.........child #1 shoveled the deck and walkway....the dawling is down south enjoying his 60 degree weather and got to ride a Segway...yep, made sure he put a helmet on...he fell on his butt when he was getting off, that's my dawling.......(you know he doesn't know how to ride a bike, I tried to teach him once, but he needed a bike with very large training wheels).............back to the snow.....shoveling driveway...hell it burns calories...........so I became one with the shovel...........we got about 8 inches total....I was hoping for a blizzard..........sigh...........my brain is disjointed in this post....but somewhat interesting ? No???????

I get up early...it's weigh in day.....I missed last Wednesday ......working.....go do my workout thing....burn at least 400 calories....I've become very OCD about that......go to WW and SURPRISE....they were closed due to the weather......Now...picture this...try to anyway....sweaty, fat person in shorts and Tee shirt.....(it's what I weigh in people) freezing her behind off thinking the stupid door is stuck.....but NO! Big sign closed due to weather.......I didn't see it.......cause I was too busy shaking............BLAST! Now I wait another week and hope I haven't gained!

Well.....I will be working most of Wednesday...so, no weigh in this week......and no, I can't do it Thursday, or Friday, or Saturday, or Sunday.....working....cause I love my job.......soooooooo much.......but really love the dollars more.............

Today I did the Sumba hell, again..Maybe I should just blurt out I am a disoriented, uncoordinated, pathetic, reject 70's dancer? I'm telling you....it's sad watching me.......one poor person nearly choked on her water...I gave up and started doing the monkey, then the swim.....remember those???????? At least I had a sweat going.........

I always do the elliptical (it depends on my mood as to which torture machine I choose) either before weights or after......I can see the calories burning off (note it has a calorie thing in the corner)....which helps the brain go when the body says STOP! Now for extra credit.... every morning I do the weight crunch thing for the gut.....cause this fat waddle person wants the gut gone! (Please note when working out DO NOT let young, lithe ladies get beside you...you tend to look at their levels and barf)

My dawling just got back from taking our child #4 to college and guess what that "son of a gun" brought back to me? Oh yeah baby.....chocolate covered NY biscotti.......I have begged my #2 to eat them all within the next 24 hours.........

Maybe it's a good thing...I will be hitting the scales next Wednesday...the 26th........and I will get that dawling back.......

Started my gym membership in earnest this Monday...ww weigh in was today, Wednesday....... weight loss was one pound...two pounds more to go then can erase the blasted weight gain from the holidays.... and go from there! I am doing the weight lifting thing 3 times per week with the aerobic 5 times per week. I did the Zumba thing yesterday...I knew the instructor...she put the bells on "me" ass......I was very uh.....laughable......and most ridiculous looking........and not coordinating with my body parts.........lets blame that on brain neurons not firing.........tomorrow it will be either yoga for the dumb or the Zumba nightmare again.........at least the elliptical machines can't make me look too inept.........stay toned.......or tuned.........whichever........

Time to face the weight gain.....ugh

Well.......two weeks of trying, but not really trying..........netted me a gain of 3 pounds. It was kind of nice to go off the deep end but now, the reality. I have joined a gym and very early this morning I worked out in a class of fit young and very trim, damn, damn women. It was my first time and let me tell you...I Am SO OUT OF SHAPE! Muscle solutions was the name of this hell. ("The ultimate sculpting class designed to define and tone every muscle in every way using various fitness equipment to build lean muscle and burn a ton of calories.") It was the burn a ton of calories that captured my fat heart.......I'll be back in this class Monday at 06:00...........cussing at my jelly muscles........
Due to my work schedule this week I will literally not have any time for exercise until maybe Saturday night............So, my goal is to dump the 3 pounds in two weeks and then dump another 5 to 10 by the end of February! Let us all bow our collective heads in prayer, as this fatty will need an intervention! Oh, by the way one really gets a dose of reality pie when seeing one's fat self in those awful mirrors plastered on the workout rooms! (Can one fat self vomit now?!)

I have my first cattle scale weigh in this Wednesday......I have been either out of town or too darn busy. The unfortunate aspect of not going to cattle scale will be major major weight gain!!!! I tried....truly! BUT...I start my gym membership tomorrow and that will be wonderful! I can go as early as 05:30! I am working more hours of late, which gives me nil to no time for self. I work evenings on Wednesdays too...this week I am pulling awful awful hours!!!!! Thursday and Friday I will be working from 07:00 to 21:00...and since I live about 65 Minutes from my job tack that on too!

My sweet child #3 had arm surgery on the 23rd of December, so has a cast from his shoulder to hand. On top of that his birthday was the 29Th......we have told him when he feels better we'll celebrate in true form!

I have posted pictures of child #2's quilt finally finished!! This was suppose to be done last May for her graduation from college. Better late than never!!!!!!! I machine quilted the damn thing myself!! It is bigger than a full size but a tad smaller than a queen.

I am BUSY!!!! My number 3 son has surgery on his right arm ...again....12/23/10....very early in the AM. I will be there holding his hand, the lioness watching her cub.........trust me on that!

I have been cooking like a swirly fool ... and you know what.......I lost .6pounds this week! Due to the snow and other appointments I have not been able to waddle. I did join a gym and I start in January 2011. A gift to myself.....I have hopes of ditching another 10 pounds or more by my birthday in mid February!

The dawling is on his way up North picking up our number 2 child and number 4 child. It will be a marvelous Christmas!

First off, I lost .6 pounds of lard........I am finally getting the hang of the points plus thing.....the small calculator one buys....one needs class 101 to figure the damn thing out...what stumped me was how to just put points in...got it going on now.......soooooo next week I really hope for better poundage lost! I know I am a "carboholic" it is a disease and well I need the ten step plan for freedom.........I love bread, I love sugar, I love all that is bad for me.long drawn out sigh..........help me...............

I have a sunburn on my forehead from waddlewalk and running......it is interesting talk....no?

The dawling has been sick with his beloved stones....had to have a 6mm removed........poor thing......and poor people involved in his care...I am one of those bitch wifey people...cause I am a nurse and I trust no one....I am like lion with baby cubs......sigh.....

Well, weight watchers has changed their plan........I think it might work better for me.....I gained my usual 2 cellphones back plus an ounce ........( .5pounds) Not too bad for 2 weeks of somewhat overindulgence?
Got to see number 2 child and time with child number 4. Not bad.....oh, oh, oh, the dawling gained a pound.

So, have high hopes for this new points plus! I actually get 29 to play with each and every day....you spoil me soooooo, weight watcher's.............

Remember the torture of getting a group photo of your "wee" ones? I had all 4 to wrangle up........the oldest was nearly 18 and the youngest was nearly 2 years............they were sick of the posing...........I had to get this picture....if nothing else, for those tired weary expressions! the cattle scale...basically I lost what I gained last weight....(.5 pounds of lard)........I think I need to get back on track with my tracking...you know that thing of shoveling food in your mouth! It is depressing when you have your fat a** out waddle walking then running...and one only loses half a damn pound.......I HATE getting old! OK..I put it out there! strong feeling that this Wednesday is going to be a VERY bad cattle scale adventure..............BUT we went on the PATH to 9th street in New York and walked to Union Square to experience the Farmers market. MY, my, my.............it was dizziness, elation, it was jam packed with the peoples, it was 200 degrees.........I did not take pictures.........Child #3 was with us and we had to work fast........he was getting circuit overload.......he was getting that look and "we" know that look........so all 5 of us (everyone minus #1 son) did the ride over, walk, and back in 3 plus hours. Next time it will be different.......maybe! The food, the food, the food, the smells, the salivation was intense.........save me dear diet fairy, save me..........................

OK, feeling good today.....stepped on the cattle scale and lost 1.4 pounds of lard this week! It has to be the running! My fat is jiggling down the road with each step......I have developed a secret following.......that's OK.......they cheer me on!

I gained .2 stinking pounds this week! (one of those skinny people told me that was a small cellphone....I just looked at her)

The good news....I am running one entire mile! (That my friends is a true miracle!) The cows are shocked, they look at me funny.....a young redneck wannabe was cruising by in his red pickup....veered over to my side, after passing, looking in his rear view mirror at my "jogginess".......I waved! Of course it takes 3 miles of my straight waddle walk, then I flip into run drive ...after a mile of run time, click back to waddle.....not bad for a 56 year old fatty!

On another note....a dear someone emailed me the news that my small community (involving only the womenfolk) has been getting terrorized by a "mooner". He was actually caught in the act in front of our post office...the one I go by near the end of my 5 miles. I was never mooned, I would like to know if was based on my waddle, my age? I was rather disappointed! Although I must admit I feel so much better that this "mooner" has been caught! Life in the back-roads and rack-roads of our Valley.........

I want everyone to know that I busted my be-hind for this weeks loss! Yes, was waddle walking and waddle running 8 to 9 miles per day! I go back to work this evening, so I only did 5 miles today. Anyway, I lost 1.2 pounds of lard. Peoples...it was more, as This waddle person gained from the week before....I think I gained about 2 pounds, so I was on a mission not to humiliate my fat self! I have been busting my fat butt...waddle walking up to 8 miles on days not working.......why, I had my fat butt out last evening in the pouring rain..so the total lost this week was only .8 pounds. Which really is .3 pounds, when last week I gained .5 pounds, are you all with me on this? I am beginning to think I need to really kick up the exercising even more!!!!! At least the dawling tells me I'm looking buff......of course..... he is half blind.......

Taking child number 4 to college this Friday.......this is the first year I don't have anyone in high school...very strange feeling! We'll always have child number 3 to take to work and community college but that is another story...........

I knew it, yep, just knew it! I gained .5 pounds this week........of course it didn't help that my oldest turned 34 and I made butter cream chocolate cake with the icing to match. (Probably should have taken a picture as it was heaven!) Of course the cake had half pound of butter as well as the icing..so a pound of butter! I only took a small piece, which had (maybe 12 points...that's ww talk).....onward to the next cattle scale! I will do better.......I promise self! Oh, the recipe is in Dorie Greenspan's book...the baking one....the one with the heavenly picture of a most yummy cake! I suggest one run to buy this book!!! I have her link posted on my sidebar.

Of followers..........We went out of town last Sunday night and the cattle scale weigh in had already happened. So, next Wednesday......I do know I am walking 4.5 miles in 45 minutes...which means I need to waddle walk further to make sure it is 60 minutes! Yes.......I lost 2 pounds of lard this week! Doing maybe 4.4 miles of waddle walk in early morning.......with about 1.7 miles of waddle walk in evening. Can only do the waddle walks in evening on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday........must work evenings the other two..... So........ooooo...........try to do 5 or so miles in mornings on Thursday and Friday. I wanted more lard gone by this time... ..have decided my fat body loves to keep lard......close to 30 pounds gone.....not to bad............

Got the new iPhone4 for youngest....we got LUCKY! Got to the AT&T place at 6AM...with about 20 people in front of us. Many were couples seeking one and a few did not realize they would have to pay one million dollars since they were on another plan. I, the Mother, was upgrading my phone of 4 years....and gave the upgraded edition to the "young one"............that phone really is a marvel! Actually, it's simple to operate...and coming from me and phones that says a lot! Plus, we are an APPLE family...proud owners of an imac and laptop........nothing like an apple!!!

For the new apple iPhone4...blah blah blah! I promised my baby one for his graduation gift......he wanted the i tune touch thing and had to have a phone for college sooooooo....I had no idea all the craziness would in-sue....Our family has 5 phones and our wireless company is AT&T......what's another phone? We own the chairs in our local AT&t store....by my calculations...along with a few light fixtures! My dawling and I will be ending our love affair with our land line soon....Personally, I like your simple average phone.....the kind that rings normal and you answer.......no text stuff involved! So, getting back to the facts...no, I did not pre- order the 16gb iPhone...think of me out in the wee hours next Tuesday..0500...hoping upon hope to get that damn phone!

I lost one pound this week. Really .... (hoped) for more...doing 4mile waddle walk in morning....1 or 2 miles at night...depending on my waddle walk legs....and if working evenings.....listening to Lady GaGa on the iPod...gets one moving up those hills.....along with some profuse sweating! I am not doing anything creative...playing in the garden....weeding and such...always fun! Yes! My dawling turned 60 years old....yesterday.....where was I.........sick in the bed..all the plans thrown out the door....trying to make him a low calorie cake......fell asleep.....smelled smoke and had a big burnt black cake.......10 egg whites and all down the compost pile..........the dawling is out of town from now until late Thursday...what a way to spend the big 60? BUT.....he still loves me and is ever so sweet......we will postpone the celebration for another week.......I do love that dawling of mine!

We went to see our daughter's senior thesis exhibition at Bard.....but before that... my dawling took me to check out child #4's college. Very impressive.....the views of NY city are out of this world! I believe he chose wisely.......I was nervous and wondered if Syracuse University was better.......NO! It is a wonderful campus, right on the Hudson River.....he wants to double major in computer science and physics...we will see. I have pictures of the daughter with her boyfriend and child #4's college...Stevens.
The cattle scale weigh in was 1.8 pounds of lard lost! I have hit the big 20 pounds of lard lost...maybe I can make it to 25 by her graduation?!

Well, the cattle scale does not lie........no weight loss! I am jogging now....albeit pathetically...but nonetheless jogging! I can't do a mile straight......yet......total miles with the waddle walk and jog nearly 3 ....goal is 6.......maybe I will have a big loss next cattle scale time....one can only hope!!! Meanwhile the dawling is melting away in front of my eyes.......damn men!! They need to have babies and blow up like whales! He is looking good though!

We are leaving late Sunday to see our daughter's senior thesis "elementary" exhibition at Bard. Many pictures will be taken! Let us also hope that the fatty stays on track with the weight loss....as the food in those there parts are heaven!

For other important news my "Baby" has decided on his college......he got a truly wonderful scholarship at Syracuse.... #2 WPI ....mostly loans and a pitiful scholarship (this was is #1 pick but too any loans....he would owe about 100thousand) .......#3 also great scholarship at Stephens with the co op in NY city......#4 good deal at George Mason (which was his back up school)...unfortunately he was wait listed at Rensselaer (this was his #2 pick). It was a hard decision but he chose Stephens due to his major......and that is that.

I am suppose to be working on my daughter's Quilt as she graduates from college...the end of May...but... the "other quilt" started talking back to me.....and well... I need 36 blocks completed to put it together...I have only 10 more.......YES....I can do this.....maybe....? I also have to complete a quilt for the "baby" (child #4 that graduates from High School this June)...pressure...lots of pressure!

If you see that wonderful red that will be the fabric to connect the blocks it will also outline the entire quilt...I will use the piano keys with all fabric for the border..........

This was all done by hand .....no machine for ANYTHING! English paper piecing.....really love it for the easy "can take with you anywhere".

Got to go working extra tonight........the money tree has lost it's leaves...............

Well, I lost my usual 1.4 pounds of lard......17 pounds of fat cells beaten down......I am looking forward to hitting the 25 pounds of lard gone! The dawling cheated on this trip.....regarding food....I tried very hard....we even did a jog/walk for 2.5 miles......the dawling would jog around me and I wanted to slap him.......
